Philippe Diallo Re-elected as President of the French Soccer Federation

PARIS — Philippe Diallo has been re-elected for a new four-year term as president of the French Football Federation (FFF).
Diallo secured 55% of the votes in the first round of the election, according to the federation’s announcement on Saturday, defeating his opponent Pierre Samsonoff.
He took on the role of interim president after Noël Le Graët resigned from the position, having initially been elected in June 2023.

“Professional soccer is facing a crisis,” Diallo remarked. “We must establish the necessary foundations to facilitate its recovery. The FFF needs to take the lead in this effort. Our aim is to make French football more resilient over the next four years and to see our initiatives come to fruition.”

French professional clubs are currently grappling with declines in revenue from television rights.
Following the failure of a lucrative contract with the Spanish broadcast company Mediapro four years ago, the league had high hopes of generating around 1 billion euros (approximately $1.1 billion) annually from broadcasting rights for the 2024-2029 cycle. However, expectations had to be tempered, with the league eventually agreeing to a deal that provided 500 million euros per year through a last-minute arrangement with the British streaming service DAZN and BeIN Sports.

Diallo has emphasized his commitment to increasing financial support for amateur soccer, identifying it as one of his key objectives. He aims to provide 150 million euros annually to support this sector.
