FORT WORTH, Texas — TCU’s top scorer, Frankie Collins, will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a fracture in his left foot, as confirmed by the university on Friday.
The senior guard, who stands at 6-foot-2, is in his inaugural season with TCU after spending the previous two years at Arizona State. He is set to undergo surgery this coming Tuesday in Dallas.
Collins has been a key player for the Horned Frogs (5-4), averaging 11.2 points and 4.4 assists per game, alongside 4.4 rebounds.
The injury occurred during the first half of TCU’s 83-74 defeat against Vanderbilt last Sunday. Despite the pain, he managed to play 35 minutes in that game, contributing six points and seven assists.
Previously, Collins played a significant role as a freshman for Michigan’s team that reached the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2021-22 before transferring to Arizona State. There, he started all 32 games last season, recording averages of 13.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game.
He may have the opportunity to secure another year of eligibility through a medical redshirt.
Arizona State is currently navigating its first season in the Big 12, and is scheduled to host TCU on February 15.
