A well-known luxury real estate agent and his identical twin brother faced sexual assault charges in a Florida courtroom on Thursday. Their other brother, who is a co-founder of their real estate company, is also implicated in what federal authorities describe as a long-standing scheme involving sex trafficking.
Oren and Alon Alexander, both aged 37, were ordered to be held without bond by Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer until a hearing scheduled for Friday, where their lawyer plans to request their release on bail. Prosecutors argue that both brothers pose a flight risk and should remain incarcerated until their trial begins.
During the hearing in Miami, the brothers’ attorney Joel Denaro expressed hope in proposing a bail arrangement to the state. Oren and Alon appeared remotely, clad in protective green vests, revealing their arms. In a separate court session, their 38-year-old brother, Tal Alexander, faced similar charges in a federal courtroom in Miami relating to the sex trafficking indictment implicating all three siblings. Tal’s bail hearing is also set for Friday, with the prosecution seeking his pretrial detention.
So far, none of the brothers have entered pleas in response to the charges lodged against them. Oren and Tal Alexander co-founded the real estate agency known as Official, which deals primarily in luxury properties across major cities such as New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, catering to affluent clients.
According to federal prosecutors in the indictment from New York, all three brothers allegedly collaborated to repeatedly and violently drug, sexually assault, and rape a number of victims. At a news conference on Wednesday, Manhattan U.S. Attorney Damian Williams stated that the brothers exploited their wealth and influence to manipulate victims between 2010 and 2021. The charges from Florida, however, specifically address individual incidents involving identified victims.
The brothers, who live in the Miami area, reportedly used tactics involving deception, fraud, and coercion to lure victims into traveling with them or attending events and parties, often covering their associated expenses like flights and accommodations. Sometimes they used the guise of romantic relationships to entice their victims.
During the hearing, Oren Alexander personally appealed to the judge for release on bail, citing his wife’s nine-month pregnancy and her need for his support during labor. To this, Judge Glazer responded that she was obligated to hold him without bond, although his lawyer would have an opportunity to advocate for his release at a future hearing. Denaro maintained, “We don’t believe he’s a flight risk.”
Federal authorities indicated that many women who fell victim to the brothers were often supplied with illegal substances such as cocaine, psychedelic mushrooms, and GHB, with instances where the brothers secretly drugged the drink of some victims, rendering them incapacitated and unable to resist or escape during the assaults.
In the state cases, prosecutors detailed a specific event from December 2016, describing a “gang rape” involving a woman who attended a barbecue at Alon Alexander’s Miami Beach apartment, where she found only Alon and another man present. In another reported incident from October 2017, a woman claimed that Oren Alexander sexually assaulted her in his apartment after a real estate function, stating that a glass of wine she was given made her feel weak and powerless prior to the assault, according to the prosecutors.
