Kylian Mbappé has sustained an injury to his left thigh and is expected to be absent for an unspecified duration, as confirmed by Real Madrid on Thursday.

The club did not elaborate on the specifics of the injury or predict the timeline for his return, mentioning that “his progress will be monitored.”

Real Madrid will be competing at Rayo Vallecano this Sunday, currently sitting two points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona.

Following that, the team is set to fly to Qatar for the Intercontinental Cup final on December 18, before hosting Sevilla on December 22. They’ll enjoy a brief winter break before resuming play against Valencia on January 3.

Mbappé sustained the injury on Tuesday while netting the first goal during Madrid’s 3-2 victory over Atalanta in the Champions League, having to exit the match in the first half.

Since his transfer to Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain during the offseason, Mbappé has found the back of the net 12 times in 22 appearances. Nevertheless, his performances against key rivals have not met expectations.
