CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — In an impressive display, Alyssa Ustby contributed 15 points, eight rebounds, and four steals, aiding No. 14 North Carolina in a commanding 80-56 victory over UNC Greensboro on Wednesday evening. This win marks the Tar Heels’ seventh consecutive triumph.
North Carolina established a solid lead, heading into halftime with a score of 44-29, and maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the second half. The team kicked off the second half strongly, scoring six consecutive points to increase their lead to 21.
The Tar Heels capitalized on their opponent’s mistakes, scoring 17 points off of 17 turnovers committed by UNC Greensboro. Alongside Ustby, Indya Nivar contributed to the effort with 11 points. North Carolina’s performance at the free-throw line was also notable, as they converted 14 of their 20 attempts, in contrast to UNC Greensboro’s 7 of 10.
For UNC Greensboro, Jaila Lee was a key player, scoring 14 points, while Nya Smith added another 10. Unfortunately, this loss extended their struggle in the series, marking their 14th consecutive defeat to the Tar Heels.
Looking ahead, North Carolina aims to remain unbeaten as they face No. 25 Georgia Tech on Sunday in their Atlantic Coast Conference opener. Meanwhile, UNC Greensboro prepares for their upcoming matchups, which include two games against Power Five opponents, starting with Georgia on Monday.
