FORT WORTH, Texas — Ashlyn Watkins, a standout forward for the third-ranked South Carolina women’s basketball team, has made a name for herself by achieving a remarkable feat: she has completed a dunk in each of her three seasons. This past Sunday, she showcased her athleticism once again during a match against the ninth-ranked TCU.
Watkins, standing at 6-foot-3, demonstrated her skills when she intercepted a pass from Madison Conner past midcourt, drove the ball towards the basket, and executed a powerful right-handed dunk, despite the presence of 6-foot-7 forward Sedona Prince attempting to block her shot.
Having already made history as the first player in the program to dunk during her freshman year, Watkins continues to impress. She recorded her first dunk while taking on Clemson and followed that up last season with another impressive dunk at home against Kentucky, where she made a spectacular run down the court after a steal.
Before joining South Carolina, she was already recognized for her dunking ability, having claimed victory in the dunk contest at the prestigious McDonald’s All-American event. Her consistent ability to elevate her game and perform acrobatic dunks has earned her a reputation as one of the most exciting players in women’s college basketball.
As the season progresses, fans and analysts alike will be keen to see what other highlights Watkins brings to the court. Her extraordinary talent not only showcases her individual skills but also serves as a significant asset to the Gamecocks as they continue their pursuit of success in the competitive landscape of women’s college basketball.
