SAN MARCOS, Texas — In an impressive performance on Sunday night, Tyler Morgan made a significant contribution to Texas State’s victory over Rice, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, which helped secure a 75-66 win for the Bobcats.
Alongside Morgan, teammates Tylan Pope and Coleton Benson each contributed 13 points to the team’s success, bringing Texas State’s record to 7 wins and 3 losses this season.
For Rice, which also holds a 7-3 record, Caden Powell was a standout performer, finishing the game with 14 points and six rebounds. Trae Broadnax supported the Owls’ effort by adding 13 points along with six rebounds, while Kellen Amos registered 10 points and provided five assists.
The Bobcats established their lead halfway through the first half with 11:31 left on the clock and maintained control of the game thereafter. An impactful first-half performance by Benson, who scored nine points, helped Texas State to a 35-31 lead at halftime.
With this win, the Bobcats look to build on their momentum as the season progresses.
