The NFL has announced fines for several players in connection with incidents that occurred during Week 13 of the season. Among those disciplined was Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram, who received a fine for a late hit while defending quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Engram’s fine amounted to $11,255, while Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson faced a penalty of $19,697 for tripping an opponent on the sidelines. Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens was fined two separate amounts, $10,231 for each offense related to unsportsmanlike conduct, totaling $20,462 for the week.
The situation involving Engram escalated when he and other Jaguars players confronted Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair after he delivered a severe hit to Lawrence, who was sliding during a play. This hit resulted in Lawrence being carted off the field after suffering a facemask blow, triggering a brawl between players on both sidelines and leading to a subsequent altercation shortly after. Sadly, Lawrence was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a concussion sustained in that incident.
In another incident, Stevenson found himself in a scuffle with Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams during a play on the sideline. Williams was penalized for throwing the ball at Stevenson’s face, which followed a moment where Stevenson seemed to trip Williams as he ran out of bounds. This confrontation concluded with Williams falling down, standing up, and retaliating by tossing the ball at Stevenson.
Meanwhile, George Pickens faced fines for unsportsmanlike conduct, first for taunting in the opening quarter and then for making an inappropriate gesture in the third quarter during a game against the Bengals.
