Utah State Secures Victory Over Wyoming

LOGAN, Utah — In a thrilling matchup, Ian Martinez led the Utah State Aggies to a 70-67 victory against the Wyoming Cowboys on Wednesday night, showcasing an impressive performance in the second half where he contributed 17 of his total 23 points.

Mason Falslev sealed the win for the Aggies with a crucial layup just 35 seconds before the final buzzer, extending the lead to 70-64. Wyoming’s Kobe Newton came back with a 3-pointer in the closing moments of the game, narrowing the gap with eight seconds remaining.

Martinez complemented his scoring with five rebounds, helping the Aggies maintain their perfect season record at 8-0 and kickstart their conference play at 1-0 in the Mountain West Conference. Falslev was also a key contributor, scoring 19 points with an 8 of 15 shooting effort—although he struggled behind the arc with an 0 for 3 record—while making 3 of 5 from the free-throw line. Furthermore, he added six rebounds and made three steals. Karson Templin chipped in with 11 points, contributing to the team’s eighth consecutive victory.

The Cowboys, now 5-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play, were spearheaded by Obi Agbim, who earned a double-double with 17 points and 10 assists. Newton matched Agbim’s scoring, also netting 17 points for Wyoming. Jordan Nesbitt added depth to their offense with 13 points, nine rebounds, and four steals.

In the first half, Dexter Akanno scored nine points for Utah State, helping the Aggies secure a slim 32-29 lead as the teams entered halftime.
