Texas Tech, now with a record of 7-1, surged in the second half, initiating a 21-7 run after a narrow one-point lead at halftime. By the time the under-12 timeout arrived, the Red Raiders had established a 59-44 advantage.

Although a late 3-pointer from David Skrogman brought DePaul within nine points with approximately 4½ minutes left in the game, McMillian quickly responded with two consecutive jump shots, and Texas Tech capped the contest with a 9-4 scoring run.

For DePaul, Jacob Meyer was impressive from beyond the arc, making four of his five 3-point attempts and finishing with 14 points, while JJ Traynor added 11. The Blue Demons entered the matchup undefeated, having won their first seven games of the season.

The Red Raiders started strong, scoring the first 14 points of the game and holding a commanding 17-2 lead early on. However, DePaul fought back, hitting five 3-pointers to knot the game at 21. Texas Tech responded with another scoring outburst, moving ahead 31-23 before three more 3-pointers, including two from Meyer, allowed DePaul to take its first lead at 34-33 with just over two minutes remaining in the first half.

In the closing moments of the half, McMillian added four more points for Texas Tech, including a buzzer-beating jumper, giving the Red Raiders a slim 38-37 lead at the break. DePaul had a strong showing from three-point range, hitting nine of their 21 attempts in the first half.
