FBI probes sightings of substantial drones over New Jersey and requests assistance from the public

The FBI is currently looking into reports of unusual drone activity that has been occurring during nighttime hours in central New Jersey and is reaching out to the public for assistance.

Eyewitness accounts have described a group of what seem to be larger drones than the standard hobbyist models, along with a potential fixed-wing aircraft, flying in numerous locations along the Raritan River since November 18. The motivations behind these flights remain unclear, and the identity of the operators is unknown; however, officials from federal and state agencies have assured the community that there is no immediate risk to safety.

These aerial activities have sparked interest particularly due to their proximity to Picatinny Arsenal, a site designated for military research and manufacturing, as well as their occurrence over the golf course owned by President-elect Donald Trump in Bedminster. In light of this situation, the FBI is encouraging individuals to come forward with any videos, photographs, or additional information that may shed light on these flights.

In response to this investigation, the Federal Aviation Administration has enacted restrictions on drone operations in the region. Local law enforcement in Morris and Somerset counties issued a collective statement on Tuesday confirming their awareness of the situation and pledging to remain vigilant in monitoring the drone activities.

The community’s involvement could prove crucial as the investigation progresses, and officials are hopeful that with collaborative efforts, more clarity may be achieved regarding these mysterious flights.
