In a closely contested game on Monday night, the Saint Louis Billikens emerged victorious against the Jackson State Tigers with a score of 74-66, marking Jackson State’s eighth consecutive loss this season.
Gibson Jimerson was a standout player for the Billikens, finishing the night with an impressive 21 points on 8 of 16 shooting, including three 3-pointers.
Isaiah Swope significantly contributed to the team’s success, recording 18 points, seven assists, and five rebounds, while Robbie Avila also played a key role with his 15 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
For the Tigers, Jayme Mitchell led the scoring with 14 points. His performance was complemented by Shannon Grant, who added 12 points along with seven rebounds. Daeshun Ruffin chipped in with 10 points and showcased his defensive skills by securing four steals.
In the first half, Swope managed to score eight points, but the Billikens went into halftime trailing 35-30. The team rallied in the second half, with Jimerson scoring 19 points, turning the tide for the Billikens and ultimately leading them to a much-needed victory.
