LUBBOCK, Texas — In a commanding performance on Friday night, Texas Tech secured a decisive 89-64 victory over Northern Colorado. Darrion Williams was a standout for the Red Raiders, notching a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Overton contributed significantly as well, adding 20 points to the team’s total.

Texas Tech (6-1) also saw strong contributions from JT Toppin, who recorded 11 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, and Christian Anderson, who finished with 12 points. The offensive efforts from these players proved pivotal in the team’s comprehensive win.

On the opposing side, Northern Colorado (6-3) was led by Quinn Denker, who scored 16 points, while both Langston Reynolds and Isaiah Hawthorne chipped in with 12 points each. Despite their efforts, the Bears found it difficult to keep pace with the high-scoring Red Raiders.

Texas Tech showcased its shooting prowess, particularly in the second half, where they made six consecutive baskets at one point, extending a comfortable halftime lead of 21 points to 73-41 with just over eight minutes remaining in the game. Williams hit a jumper moments later to push the score to 77-46, but the Red Raiders did experience a rough patch with six turnovers and only two field goals over the following six and a half minutes.

Despite these struggles, Northern Colorado could not mount a successful comeback, and Texas Tech maintained a substantial lead, finishing the game 87-60 as they entered the final minute. The Red Raiders demonstrated exceptional shooting from beyond the arc, connecting on 13 of their 23 attempts from three-point range. Overton and Anderson both sank four three-pointers each, while Williams added three to his tally.

In the first half, Texas Tech shot an impressive 62%, leading to a 50-29 advantage at the halftime break. Overton was particularly impressive in this period, scoring 17 points along with Williams who contributed 13 points, hitting three three-pointers out of four attempts.
