Greer and Lundell lead Panthers to victory over Hurricanes with a score of 6-3

RALEIGH, N.C. — A.J. Greer and Anton Lundell found the net 4:10 apart in the final period, enabling the Florida Panthers to bounce back after giving up a two-goal advantage to triumph over the Carolina Hurricanes 6-3 on Friday night.

Lundell, who contributed an assist in addition to his goal, marked the Panthers’ seventh short-handed goal of the season, the highest in the league. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes put an end to their nine-game home winning streak with this loss.

Other contributors to Florida’s scoring were Jesper Boqvist, Sam Reinhart, Carter Verhaeghe, and Sam Bennett, who sealed the game with an empty-net score. This victory marked the Panthers’ second in a row, following a difficult stretch where they lost four games. Aaron Ekblad stood out with two assists, and goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was reliable, stopping 28 shots. Reinhart continues to impress, leading the NHL with 18 goals, having netted in seven of the last nine matches.

On the other hand, the Hurricanes saw goals from Seth Jarvis, Sean Walker, and Eric Robinson, while Shayne Gostisbehere made two assists. Spencer Martin was in goal and managed to make 24 saves throughout the contest.

In terms of significant takeaways, the Panthers’ consecutive victories could rekindle their momentum after a rough patch of losing six out of seven games. As for Lundell, although he ranks third in team scoring with eight goals, this was only the second time in nine games that he registered at least a point.

For the Hurricanes, their impressive home winning streak came to an end, marking the second-longest in the franchise’s history. They have been attempting to come back from multi-goal deficits in each of their past three games, but they fell short this time.

A critical moment of the game occurred shortly after the Panthers took the lead in the third period. During a crucial penalty kill, Lundell executed a 2-on-1 rush and scored shorthanded, adding to the 5-on-3 penalty kill they previously managed in the first period when they held a two-goal lead that eventually slipped away.

Statistically, the Hurricanes have been on a roll, scoring on power plays for five consecutive games, whereas the Panthers have allowed a power-play goal in five of their last six contests.

Looking ahead, the Panthers and Hurricanes are set to face each other again Saturday in Florida.
