MANCHESTER, England — Rodri, the recent Ballon d’Or recipient, is optimistic about making a return to the pitch this season after dealing with an ACL injury.
The Manchester City midfielder was initially anticipated to miss the remainder of the campaign after undergoing surgery in September. However, Rodri has reported positive developments in his recovery process.
“My goal is to return this season. Maintaining a positive mindset is crucial for me; I refuse to give up on the season,” Rodri shared during an episode of “The Rest Is Football” podcast. “I aim for a recovery timeframe of six or seven months.”
The injury occurred in September during a match where City drew 2-2 against Arsenal, leaving him with damage to his right knee. ACL injuries typically require a rehabilitation period ranging from six months to a year. Following the surgery, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola stated that Rodri’s season was over.
In the wake of his absence, Manchester City has faced challenges, currently enduring a six-match winless streak across all competitions.
