A police vehicle was involved in a collision with an official limousine carrying New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, along with Finance Minister Nicola Willis in Wellington, according to local officials.
The incident, described as a minor crash, took place on Wednesday afternoon on a principal roadway leading to the airport in the capital city where the nation’s parliament convenes. Thankfully, there were no injuries resulting from this accident.
Authorities have initiated an inquiry regarding the circumstances of the collision.
The Department of Internal Affairs, which oversees the management of official cars, indicated that the rear of the limousine sustained damage from the impact.
Luxon addressed the media in Auckland, sharing that the crash came as a “bit of a shock” but reassured that he was “fine.” He also mentioned he was unsure about the potential for the limousine to be declared a total loss.
