JACKSON, Miss. — A brother and sister from Mississippi have received prison sentences for their involvement in a plot to murder their stepfather, according to federal prosecutors.

Joshua Bryan, aged 29, and Regan Bryan, 30, both residing in Clinton, Mississippi, aimed to secure their stepfather’s death by hiring a hitman, intending to gain access to life insurance benefits, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Mississippi in a recent announcement.

Regan Bryan, who admitted her guilt by pleading to a charge of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, was sentenced to a term of five years and five months behind bars. In contrast, Joshua Bryan received a more severe sentence of 10 years after he was found guilty of both conspiracy and the actual murder-for-hire charges in a trial that took place last December.

This case underscores the grave consequences tied to violent crime and the lengths to which individuals may go for financial gain. The legal outcomes for the Bryan siblings highlight the dedication of law enforcement and the judicial system in addressing such serious offenses within their jurisdiction.
