SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — In a strong display, Deuce Turner scored 17 points to lead the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos to a 67-51 win against Eastern Washington on Tuesday.
Turner demonstrated impressive shooting, making 6 of 10 attempts, including 1 out of 5 from long range, and converting 4 of 5 free throws. The victory improved the Gauchos’ record to 5-1. Additionally, Jason Fontenet II contributed significantly with 11 points along with seven rebounds, while Max Murrell made the most of his opportunities, scoring 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting, which included a commendable 3 of 4 performance from three-point territory.
On the other side, the Eagles, now at 1-6, had standout performances from Emmett Marquardt and Andrew Cook. Marquardt notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, showcasing his versatility on the court. Cook also contributed 14 points, helping to keep the Eagles competitive throughout the game.
