SALT LAKE CITY — On Tuesday night, Gabe Madsen showcased an impressive performance, hitting a season-high seven 3-pointers and tying his season record with 27 points, leading Utah to a dominating 94-48 victory over Mississippi Valley State.
Madsen excelled by completing 7 of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc and achieving an overall shooting percentage of 10-of-13. In addition, Miro Little contributed significantly with 16 points for Utah, while Lawson Lovering added 12 points. Mason Madsen also played a role in the scoring with nine points, all from three-pointers.
The Utes extended their lead to a commanding 89-35 after Mason Madsen hit a three-pointer, followed by a three-point play from Little with 4:45 remaining in the game.
Utah’s overall shooting was impressive, as they completed 56% of their shots (33 of 59) from the field, including 14 out of 29 attempts (49%) from long range.
For Mississippi Valley State, Arthur Tate stood out with three 3-pointers and a total of 23 points. Unfortunately, the Delta Devils are struggling, having lost all six of their games against teams from the Power 4 conferences while on the road, leaving them with a record of 1-6.
The Utes started strong, racing out to a 33-8 lead and heading into halftime with a 50-21 advantage. Madsen was particularly effective in the first half, scoring 19 points with five 3-pointers, while Lovering supported the team with 12 points. Overall, Utah shot 62% (18 of 29) during the first half, making eight shots from behind the arc.
Looking ahead, Utah will host Eastern Washington on Saturday, while Mississippi Valley State will return home to take on Oakwood on December 2.
