TROY, Ala. — On Monday night, Myles Rigsby had a standout performance with 17 points, propelling Troy to an 86-72 victory over UTSA.
Rigsby also contributed significantly on the defensive end with three steals, helping the Trojans improve their record to 4-2. Teammate Tayton Conerway scored 15 points, going 7 for 15 from the field, including a three-point attempt that fell short at 1 for 4. Conerway also contributed six rebounds and five steals. Jerrell Bellamy was efficient, hitting 5 of his 7 shots and converting all four of his free throws, also tallying 15 points in the contest.
On the other side, Amir “Primo” Spears led the Roadrunners, finishing the game with 20 points while also recording four assists and two steals. Damari Monsanto added a solid 19 points for UTSA, and Raekwon Horton played well on the boards, concluding the game with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, along with two steals.
The turning point came when Troy seized the lead with just over ten minutes left in the first half, and they never looked back. By halftime, the Trojans held a comfortable 42-29 advantage, with Rigsby contributing eight points in the first half. In the second half, Troy extended their lead with an impressive 8-0 run, pushing their advantage from seven points to 15. Conerway emerged as a leader in the latter half, scoring a team-high of nine points and helping maintain Troy’s momentum as they outscored UTSA by a single point before the game’s end.
