Autry tallies 16 points as George Washington defeats Illinois State 72-64

Trey Autry was instrumental off the bench for George Washington, contributing 16 points in their 72-64 victory over Illinois State on Monday night, securing a fifth-place finish at the Paradise Jam tournament held in the Virgin Islands.

Autry also grabbed five rebounds for the Revolutionaries, who improved to a record of 6-1. His teammate, Gerald Drumgoole Jr., matched him with another 16 points, shooting 4 of 9 from the field, including two 3-pointers on five attempts, and going a perfect 6 for 7 on free throws. Meanwhile, Darren Buchanan Jr. added 15 points, hitting 3 of 11 shots from the floor but achieving an impressive 9 of 11 from the free-throw line, in addition to pulling down 10 rebounds.

On the opposing side, the Redbirds, now at 4-3, were spearheaded by Chase Walker, who tallied 18 points along with two steals. Johnny Kinziger contributed 16 points, while Dalton Banks rounded out the effort with 13 points, six rebounds, and two steals for Illinois State.

In a closely contested first half, Autry managed to score seven points, leading to George Washington trailing by just two points with a halftime score of 29-27.

Looking ahead, George Washington is scheduled to host VMI on Friday, while Illinois State will make a trip to Belmont on Wednesday.
