Baltimore’s Roquan Smith out against Chargers with hamstring issue

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith will not be participating in tonight’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers due to a hamstring injury.

Smith, who has been a key player for the Ravens with a team-high of 110 tackles this season, did not take part in any practices throughout the week after he sustained the injury during last week’s narrow defeat against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where the Ravens lost 18-16.

The absence of Smith may pose challenges for the Ravens’ defense, which is currently ranked 26th in the league. Malik Harrison, coming off a season-high tackling performance against the Steelers, is expected to step up significantly in Smith’s place.

In addition to Smith, several other Ravens players will be sidelined for the game, including running back Rasheen Ali, center Nick Samac, linebacker David Ojabo, cornerback Arthur Maulet, and safety Sanoussi Kane.

On the Chargers’ side, rookie cornerback Cam Hart is still under concussion protocol, meaning he will also miss the game. On a more positive note for Los Angeles, linebacker Khalil Mack has returned to the lineup after sitting out last week’s victory over the Cincinnati Bengals due to a groin issue.

The Chargers will also be without linebacker Denzel Perryman, wide receiver DJ Chark, running back Kimani Vidal, and offensive linemen Brenden Jaimes and Jordan McFadden. Easton Stick will serve as the third-string quarterback for the Chargers during this contest.
