Saquon Barkley sets Eagles record in dominant win over Rams

Barkley rewrites the Eagles’ record books with 255 rushing yards

Saquon Barkley delivered a historic performance for the Philadelphia Eagles, rushing for 255 yards and scoring two touchdowns in a commanding 37-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. His electrifying 70- and 72-yard touchdown runs marked the first time an NFL player achieved two 70-yard rushing TDs in one game since 2009.

Breaking franchise and league records

Barkley shattered the Eagles’ rushing record of 217 yards set by LeSean McCoy in 2013, as well as Duce Staley’s 296 total yards record from 2000. With 302 all-purpose yards, Barkley joined the exclusive list of players surpassing 300 in a single game and now leads the league with 1,392 rushing yards.

A dominant second-half surge

The Eagles, leading just 13-7 at halftime, exploded in the second half with 24 points. A.J. Brown contributed 109 receiving yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 179 yards and helped seal the team’s seventh consecutive win.

The Rams struggled to contain Barkley and Philadelphia’s top-ranked defense, which recorded five sacks on Matthew Stafford. Puka Nacua had 117 receiving yards, but Los Angeles could not match the Eagles’ firepower in the second half.

Looking ahead

Philadelphia (9-2) will face the Ravens next week, while the Rams (5-6) aim to bounce back against the Saints. Barkley’s stellar performance solidifies his position as a leading MVP candidate in his first season with the Eagles.
