MISSOULA, Mont. — In an exciting matchup at the Stew Morrill Classic on Sunday night, CSU Northridge triumphed over Utah Tech with a final score of 89-79, fueled by a standout performance from Marcus Adams Jr., who scored 25 points.
Adams also contributed five rebounds during the game, while his teammate Keonte Jones recorded 23 points, shooting an impressive 8 of 15 from the floor and converting 5 out of 10 free-throw attempts. Jones also made his presence felt on defense, collecting nine rebounds and blocking three shots. Additionally, Scotty Washington pitched in with 19 points, going 7 of 14 from the field, including three successful three-pointers on six tries.
For the Trailblazers, Hakim Byrd led the charge with 23 points, keeping the game competitive. Noa Gonsalves complemented Byrd’s efforts with 15 points of his own, while Samuel Ariyibi added 14 points and contributed defensively with three blocks.
Looking ahead, the Matadors are set to face off against Denver, while Utah Tech will take on Montana as the tournament concludes on Monday.
