ORLANDO, Fla. — Ramiro Enrique found the back of the net in the first half, and that was all that goalkeeper Pedro Gallese would need to secure a 1-0 win for Orlando City against rival Atlanta United in the Eastern Conference semifinal at Inter&Co Stadium on Sunday.

As the No. 4 seed, Orlando City has advanced to its first conference final and will face off against the seventh-seeded New York Red Bulls next weekend, with a chance to compete for the MLS Cup final scheduled for December 7. The Red Bulls have made playoff appearances for 14 consecutive seasons, but they have yet to capture the Cup.

The only goal of the match came in the 39th minute when Enrique scored unassisted from a corner kick. The ball hit teammate César Araújo’s chest near the goal before Enrique found his opportunity. This marked Enrique’s first goal contribution in his seventh playoff match, following an impressive eight-goal performance during the regular season this year.

Gallese did not face any shots on target in this match, marking his 10th career playoff start, all with Orlando City. During his tenure, he has achieved five shutouts in the playoffs, with three of those in the last two seasons. Additionally, he recorded eight clean sheets throughout the regular season.

For Atlanta United, goalkeeper Brad Guzan saved three shots and has made 18 postseason starts for the team, following four appearances with Chivas USA in the 2006-07 season.

The match took a twist for Atlanta when they lost Daniel Ríos to concussion protocol just minutes into the second half, leading to Ronald Hernández stepping in as his replacement.

Historically, Atlanta United has had a favorable outcome against Orlando during the regular season, holding an 11-4-7 record in their matchups. They won both encounters this season—first with a 2-1 victory on the road and then a 2-0 win at home.

This matchup was significant as it was the first time these two teams had met in the playoffs, adding an extra layer of excitement to the rivalry.
