GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands — In a thrilling matchup at the Cayman Islands Classic on Sunday, Tyson Degenhart emerged as a standout performer, netting 25 points to guide Boise State to an 83-69 victory over Hampton.
Degenhart complemented his scoring with five rebounds, showcasing a well-rounded effort for the Broncos, who improved to a record of 4-1. O’Mar Stanley contributed significantly as well, reaching a total of 13 points along with five rebounds. Andrew Meadow also made his mark, finishing the game with 10 points, having made 5 of 6 free throws and securing six rebounds, despite hitting only 2 of his 7 field goal attempts, including 1 out of 4 from beyond the arc.
On the other side, the Pirates had a commendable performance led by Noah Farrakhan, who scored 23 points and recorded four steals. Kyrese Mullen added a solid contribution with 12 points and six rebounds, while teammate George Beale also matched that score with 12 points of his own.
Boise State took control early in the game, establishing their lead with 15:12 left in the first half, a lead they maintained throughout. By halftime, the score was heavily tilted in Boise State’s favor at 41-21, with Degenhart alone accounting for 10 points by the break. In the second half, he continued to shine, adding another 15 points, which helped secure the win despite Hampton outscoring the Broncos by six points in those last minutes.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Tuesday. Boise State will host Utah Tech, while Hampton is scheduled to face N.C. A&T.
