Wagner’s 30 Points Propel Magic to 111-100 Victory Over Pistons

Franz Wagner delivered a standout performance with 30 points, alongside nine rebounds and eight assists, as the Orlando Magic secured a 111-100 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night. This win marked the Magic’s eighth triumph in their last nine games.

Wagner’s impressive outing included five games where he scored 30 or more points in just seven appearances. He did not take to the court in the fourth quarter as the Magic’s bench expanded the lead to 22 points with 7:19 left in the game.

Mo Wagner contributed significantly off the bench, adding 18 points and seven rebounds, while Jonathan Isaac recorded five points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks.

Leading the way for the Pistons was Jaden Ivey, who scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Malik Beasley, filling in for the injured Cade Cunningham, supported the team with 18 points.

The Pistons faced a setback as Cunningham, their top scorer and fourth-leading assist maker in the league, missed his first game of the season due to a hip injury. Consequently, Detroit struggled to adjust and allowed 29 points from 17 turnovers.

Meanwhile, the Magic played without key players Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter Jr. and also lost Jalen Suggs to a sore left hamstring in the first half, yet they maintained an unbeaten home record (8-0).

A significant moment in the game occurred when Malik Beasley leveled the score at 56 with a 3-pointer at the start of the third quarter. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope quickly responded with his own three-pointer, igniting a powerful 20-9 run that featured nine consecutive points from Franz Wagner.

In terms of performance metrics, Franz Wagner has been averaging 27.7 points over the span of 11 games since Banchero’s absence due to a torn oblique.

Looking ahead, the Pistons are set to face the Toronto Raptors in Detroit on Monday, while the Magic will take on the Charlotte Hornets on the same day.
