HOUSTON – In a thrilling conclusion to their season, Houston Christian outperformed Northwestern State with a remarkable 62-24 victory on Saturday. Quarterback Cutter Stewart showcased his talent by throwing for three touchdown passes while running back Calvin Hill added two touchdown runs to the scorecard.


The game featured a highlight moment from Jesse Valenzuela, who electrified the crowd with a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, contributing to the win for the Huskies (5-7, 3-4 Southland Conference). Stewart had a commendable performance, completing 17 of his 25 passes for 296 yards with one interception. Receiver AJ Wilson made significant contributions with three receptions totaling 123 yards, including a touchdown catch of 23 yards. Meanwhile, Hill carried the ball 20 times for 109 yards, scoring on runs of 2 and 25 yards.


The Demons (0-12, 0-7) also had their moments, with quarterback JT Fayard passing for 182 yards and throwing two touchdown passes. Darryle Evans added a 47-yard touchdown run to the Demons’ score. At halftime, the Huskies were ahead 24-14, but they exploded in the second half. Stewart connected on two touchdown passes, while Hill added his second rushing touchdown along with Valenzuela’s kickoff return score, combining for an impressive 35 points in the third quarter alone.


This commanding triumph allowed Houston Christian to end their season on a high note, overshadowing Northwestern State’s struggles throughout the year.
