SAN FRANCISCO — Dain Dainja made a significant impact off the bench, scoring 18 points that were instrumental in Memphis earning a 68-64 win over San Francisco on Thursday.
In addition to his scoring, Dainja pulled down seven rebounds and recorded three blocks, contributing substantially to the Tigers’ undefeated record of 4-0. PJ Haggerty also played a crucial role, putting up 13 points—nine of which came in the final three minutes. Haggerty managed to convert 2 out of 9 field goal attempts, including 2 for 3 from beyond the arc, and was impressive at the free-throw line, hitting 7 of 8. He also chipped in seven rebounds and came away with three steals. Tyrese Hunter contributed nine points while shooting 4 of 11, along with five assists and four steals to aid the team’s effort.
For the Dons, who now stand at 4-1, Malik Thomas was the standout performer, leading the scoring with 25 points and securing two steals. Carlton Linguard added eight points to the Dons’ total, while Ndewedo Newbury finished with seven points.
The match started off challenging for Memphis, as they found themselves trailing 31-22 at halftime. However, they came out strong in the second half, quickly overtaking San Francisco and maintaining their lead for most of the period, despite a brief moment when the score was tied with under four minutes remaining in the game.
