An elderly couple tragically lost their lives in West Virginia on Thursday following a car accident involving a toll booth plaza administration building, various news sources have disclosed.
According to West Virginia Turnpike Executive Director Jeff Miller, the incident took place shortly before 10 a.m. when the vehicle departed from the roadway and collided with the administration building at the Ghent toll booth plaza, which is situated in the southern region of the state.
“It’s an incredibly sad event,” Miller remarked in a statement to local media. “Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families impacted by this tragedy.”
The accident unfolded just prior to the area where northbound tolls are collected. Reports indicate that the vehicle went over the curb, crashed into a parked car, and subsequently struck the administration building.
Fortunately, no employees inside the building were harmed. However, details regarding the identities and ages of the couple have not yet been disclosed by officials.
