DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.
— In an exciting matchup on Thursday, Tyler McGhie delivered an impressive performance for UC San Diego, scoring 27 points to help his team secure a 72-67 victory over La Salle.
Alongside his scoring contribution, McGhie also pulled down seven rebounds, showcasing his all-around game for the Tritons, who improved their record to 3-2 this season.
Nordin Kapic was another standout for UC San Diego, finishing the game with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Hayden Gray added 14 points, shooting a notable four-for-eight from the field, including three-for-six from beyond the arc, and went three-for-six at the free-throw line.
On the other side, the La Salle Explorers, now sitting at 4-1, saw a strong performance from Corey McKeithan, who led his team with 21 points. Jahlil White also contributed to the effort with 13 points and seven rebounds.
The second half of the game proved intense, featuring five lead changes and five ties, as both teams fought fiercely for control. Ultimately, UC San Diego was able to pull ahead, with Kapic making a significant impact by scoring 13 points in the latter half, which proved crucial for their victory.
