In Boston, a trucking company owner has received a sentence of two months in prison followed by a year of supervised release. This decision came after he was found guilty of providing false statements during an investigation linked to a tragic accident that claimed the lives of seven motorcyclists in New Hampshire.

Dunyadar Gasanov, aged 39, entered a guilty plea in August in Springfield, Massachusetts, on three charges of making misrepresentations to investigators regarding the 2019 incident involving one of his company’s drivers from Westfield Transport Inc., a car transport service he operates.

As part of his sentencing, Gasanov has been banned from engaging in commercial driving while under supervised release and is required to pay a special assessment fee of $300.

He was charged with falsifying driver logs to circumvent federal safety regulations, which included overstepping limits on driving hours. Additionally, he misled federal authorities by claiming he hadn’t instructed at least one employee to disable electronic logging devices to extend driving hours unlawfully.

Furthermore, Gasanov was accused of dishonesty regarding his relationship with the driver involved in the accident, Volodymyr Zhukovskyy, who faced immigration detainment after being acquitted of the New Hampshire crash’s fatalities.

On the day of the crash, it was reported that Zhukovskyy had used heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine. Eyewitness accounts indicated that he was swerving erratically before the collision and admitted to causing the incident. However, a judge dismissed several charges related to impairment, and defense attorneys argued that the lead motorcyclist was intoxicated and did not notice he had slid in front of Zhukovskyy’s vehicle that was towing an empty flatbed trailer.

Gasanov was facing potential penalties that included up to five years in prison, a year of supervised release, and fines reaching $10,000 for each count. His co-defendant, Dartanayan Gasanov, has pleaded not guilty and is currently awaiting trial. Both individuals were indicted in 2021.
