A Boston auction house is set to host an online auction featuring a collection of memorabilia from former Red Sox President and CEO Larry Lucchino, which includes four World Series trophies. This auction will commence on Saturday, with the proceeds benefiting The Lucchino Family Foundation, an organization that supports charitable initiatives across New England.

Frank Lucchino, Larry’s brother and a retired judge from Pennsylvania, remarked on the occasion, stating, “My brother, Larry, embodied the spirit of generosity.” He highlighted Larry’s character as a reflection of the values promoted through the foundation.

The auction is set to include several notable items, such as Lucchino’s Commissioner’s Trophy and ring from the pivotal 2004 World Series, where the Red Sox famously overcame the New York Yankees to eventually face the St. Louis Cardinals. Additionally, trophies from the 2007 and 2013 championships, as well as one from 2018, will also be available for bidding.

Other featured memorabilia encompasses championship banners from 2004 and 2007 that were displayed at Fenway Park, along with a pair of stadium seats, a turnstile, and an electric guitar autographed by the iconic band Aerosmith, who performed at Fenway in 2010.

Lucchino’s impressive career included serving as president of the Baltimore Orioles, where he was instrumental in the development of Camden Yards. He later took on a similar role with the San Diego Padres, contributing to the construction of a new ballpark. In Boston, he played a key role in forming the new ownership group under John Henry and Tom Werner that acquired the Red Sox in 2002, with the decision made to renovate Fenway Park instead of building a completely new venue.

This online auction will be managed by Bonhams Skinner and will also feature various non-Red Sox items belonging to Lucchino, including a World Series ring from his time with the Orioles and a Super Bowl ring from his period in Washington.
