BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Western Kentucky achieved a convincing 79-62 win against Jackson State on Wednesday night, with Khristian Lander emerging as a standout player off the bench, contributing 15 points to the team’s victory.
Lander displayed impressive shooting skills, hitting 5 of 7 attempts from the field and finishing 4 for 5 from long range. Don McHenry also made notable contributions with 13 points, although his overall shooting was less efficient at 6 for 17. He supplemented his scoring efforts by grabbing five rebounds and stealing the ball five times. Julius Thedford was another key player, scoring 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers.
On the other hand, Tamarion Hoover led the scoring for the Tigers with 18 points, while Dorian McMillian contributed 16 points. Jayme Mitchell rounded out the spreading effort with nine points and seven rebounds for Jackson State, who have yet to secure a win this season with a record of 0-5.
The Hilltoppers took the lead early in the game, seizing control just over 18 minutes into the first half, and they maintained that advantage throughout. They went into halftime leading 40-28, with Jack Edelen providing a solid performance by chipping in eight points. In the second half, Western Kentucky pushed their lead significantly by going on a 13-2 run, escalating an 11-point advantage to as much as 22 points. They managed to outscore Jackson State by an additional five points in that half, with Lander leading the team with 12 points during that period.
