DUBLIN — Samu Kerevi, the Australian center, has concluded his participation in the Wallabies’ end-of-year tour across Europe following a suspension due to a dangerous tackle, resulting in a red card during the match against Wales over the weekend.
Kerevi received his red card in the second half of the Wallabies’ commanding 52-20 victory against Wales in Cardiff on Sunday.
An independent disciplinary committee of three members imposed a three-week/match suspension on him, as confirmed by the Wallabies on Wednesday, meaning he will miss the upcoming game against Scotland scheduled for this Sunday.
Although Kerevi would have also been sidelined for Australia’s final tour clash against Ireland on November 30, the Wallabies indicated he would not be available anyway since he plans to return to Japan to compete in club rugby.
The match against Wales marked Kerevi’s return to the field after the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
With Kerevi’s absence, Joseph Sua’ali’i, who transitioned from rugby league just last month and made his debut with the Wallabies in a thrilling 42-37 win over England to start the tour, may have the opportunity to rejoin the squad. Sua’ali’i was included as a reserve during the match against Wales.
