FRANKFURT, Germany — Defender Aurèle Amenda sustained an ankle injury during his first appearance for the Switzerland national team, necessitating surgery, as announced by his club, Eintracht Frankfurt, on Tuesday.
Amenda participated in the entire match against Serbia on Friday, which ended in a 1-1 draw as part of the Nations League.
The club reported that the 21-year-old player has damaged a syndesmosis ligament and is scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday. However, a recovery timeline has not yet been provided.
To date, Amenda has appeared in four Bundesliga matches for Eintracht, who currently holds the third position in the league after completing ten rounds. Additionally, he has participated in three Europa League encounters. Eintracht remains unbeaten after four matches and is placed fourth among a total of 36 teams in the league standings.
