LOS ANGELES — On Monday afternoon, a malfunction at Knott’s Berry Farm left more than 20 guests stranded in midair for several hours.
The incident occurred on the Sol Spin attraction at the popular Southern California amusement park around 2:00 p.m., as confirmed by an official from the park.
Around 22 individuals were eventually rescued from the ride by 4:30 p.m., following emergency protocols established by both the ride’s manufacturer and the park itself.
As a precautionary measure, two women were taken to a hospital, according to the spokesperson, who emphasized that this decision was made to ensure their safety.
Footage captured from a helicopter revealed riders suspended in various positions, with some appearing unsteady as they exited their seats once brought back to the ground.
The Sol Spin ride elevates participants to more than six stories high, featuring six arms that spin independently, as described on the Knott’s Berry Farm official webpage.
Local fire officials were present at the theme park and ready to assist, but it was the park staff that executed the rescue efforts for the stranded riders.
The swift response by park personnel ensured that those affected were safely evacuated in a timely manner.
