BEIRUT – A late-night airstrike by Israel on Monday targeted a crowded residential section of Beirut, Lebanon, situated near key governmental buildings such as the U.N. headquarters, the National Assembly, the prime minister’s office, and multiple embassies.

According to Lebanon’s state-owned National News Agency, two missiles struck the Zoqaq al-Blat neighborhood. This aerial assault occurred amidst reports that a U.S. envoy’s visit aimed at negotiating a ceasefire has been postponed.

The sound of ambulance sirens filled the area, yet there has been no official announcement regarding the number of casualties. A reporter on the scene indicated that there were substantial casualties reported on the streets. The specific target of the airstrike has not been disclosed, and the Israeli military did not provide any advance notice prior to the strike.
