Pakistan calls it and opts to bat first in the T20 series finale against Australia

HOBART, Australia — Pakistan won the toss in the final match of the three-game Twenty20 series against Australia and chose to bat first on Monday.

In a strategic move, the team decided to rest their captain Mohammad Rizwan, with Salman Agha stepping in as the acting captain.

Haseebullah Khan was brought back into the squad, while Babar Azam opened the batting alongside Sahibzada Farhan.

Making his debut, left-arm pace bowler Jahandad Khan replaced Naseem Shah in the lineup.

For Australia, the same playing XI was maintained for the third consecutive match.

In the series, the hosts had initially secured a 29-run victory in a rain-affected match that consisted of just seven overs each side, played in Brisbane.

Then, fast bowler Spencer Johnson had an impressive outing in the second T20, taking a career-best 5 for 26 and helping Australia to a 13-run win, thus clinching the series with one match still to play.

Prior to this T20 series, Pakistan had emerged victorious in an ODI series against Australia, winning 2-1.
