FORT WORTH, Texas — In an exciting matchup on Sunday, Sedona Prince delivered an impressive performance, scoring 31 points and grabbing 16 rebounds, leading TCU to a narrow 76-73 victory over the 13th-ranked NC State.

The Horned Frogs (4-0) began the fourth quarter with an 11-point advantage, but the Wolfpack surged back, narrowing the deficit to just one point with 44 seconds left on the clock. A crucial turnover by TCU’s Hailey Van Lith set the stage for NC State’s Aziaha James, who attempted a three-pointer but missed. Madison Conner then secured the defensive rebound for TCU, giving her team a chance to close out the game.

With time winding down, Taylor Bigby received the ball on the right side, evaded her defender, and executed a left-handed layup with just 8.4 seconds remaining, effectively sealing the win for TCU. The Horned Frogs strategically used their fouls in the closing seconds, which culminated in James missing a potential game-tying three-pointer as time expired.

Alongside Prince, Van Lith contributed notably with 18 points and 10 assists, while Conner and Bigby added 11 and 10 points, respectively. TCU currently ranks second in points received in the latest Top 25 poll and is aspiring to break into the Top 25 in the upcoming week.

The Wolfpack (2-2) saw significant contributions from James, who scored 27 points, along with Saniya Rivers and Zoe Brooks, who added 16 and 15 points, respectively. TCU led at halftime with a score of 33-31 and maintained their lead throughout the second half.

This match showcased TCU facing off against a reigning Final Four team in a nonconference game, marking their first such encounter at home since 2004. Notably, NC State is one of three preseason AP Top-10 teams featured on the Frogs’ nonconference schedule this season.
