The Dallas Wings emerged victorious in the recent WNBA draft lottery held on Sunday, securing the opportunity to select UConn standout Paige Bueckers with the coveted first pick.

The Wings entered the lottery with a probability of 22.7% to claim the top selection, while the Los Angeles Sparks, who had the highest likelihood at 44%, will now have the second pick.

Following them, the Chicago Sky will select third. Due to a prior trade agreement with Dallas in 2023, the Sky was unable to obtain the No. 1 pick.

The Washington Mystics, who last took home the lottery in 1999, will pick fourth. With just under an 11% chance of winning the top spot, the Mystics are still in the process of hiring a new head coach and general manager.

Additionally, the expansion team Golden State Valkyries will draft fifth overall. The WNBA is set to conduct an expansion draft on December 6, allowing Golden State to select players for its inaugural roster from existing teams.

As for the remaining selections in the first round, Washington will choose sixth after acquiring this pick from Atlanta, while the defending champion New York team will be seventh after trading for a pick with Phoenix.

Indiana and Seattle will follow in the eighth and ninth positions, respectively. The Chicago Sky, having obtained a pick from Connecticut, will also select tenth overall, while the first round concludes with picks from Minnesota and Phoenix.

Previous years have seen the Indiana Fever dominate the lottery, having chosen Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, who were both recognized as the last two Rookie of the Year awardees.
