NEW YORK — All-Star guard Anthony Edwards from Minnesota has been penalized with a $35,000 fine by the NBA due to an obscene gesture he made while on the court during the Timberwolves’ recent NBA Cup victory over Sacramento.
The league made the announcement regarding the fine on Sunday.
Although the NBA did not elaborate on the specific nature of the gesture, they noted that it occurred with 3:15 left in the first quarter.
This time frame coincided with an offensive foul called against Edwards, and shortly after, cameras captured him making the gesture towards the audience as he proceeded to the Minnesota bench.
In that game, Edwards had an impressive performance, scoring a total of 36 points.
However, despite Edwards’ efforts, the game was highlighted by Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox, who scored a remarkable 60 points—marking this score as the highest of the NBA season thus far, though it ultimately resulted in a loss for his team.
