The Trojans executed their game plan effectively, scoring on three consecutive possessions to establish a commanding presence on the field. The game was ultimately clinched by an interception, which secured Troy’s win.
Caldwell’s performance was impressive, highlighted by a 4-yard touchdown pass to Devonte Ross with just 7:50 left in the third quarter. He also showcased his versatility with two short-yardage rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The drives were methodical, with each one spanning over 70 yards and taking more than five minutes off the clock. The highlight was a remarkable 16-play, 75-yard drive that consumed 8:11 of game time.
As the game wound down, Justin Powe played a pivotal role by intercepting a pass from JC French at midfield with only 2:01 remaining, effectively sealing the deal for Troy, who improved to a record of 3-7 overall and 2-5 in the Sun Belt Conference.
