HOUSTON — Kellen Amos delivered a standout performance with 16 points, including five crucial points during overtime, helping Rice University secure a narrow 77-75 victory over Northwestern State on Saturday evening.

Amos also showcased his all-around skills by grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out seven assists for the Owls, who now hold a record of 3-1. Trae Broadnax contributed 11 points, achieving a shooting percentage of 3 of 7 from the field while also converting 4 of 10 from the free-throw line. Additionally, he recorded five rebounds. Alem Huseinovic also made a significant impact, scoring 11 points with a shooting line of 4 of 9, including 3 of 7 from three-point range.

On the opposing side, the Demons, with a record of 1-3, saw Jon Sanders lead the scoring with an impressive 27 points and four assists. Addison Patterson supported the efforts with 17 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, while Love Bettis contributed 12 points to the team’s total.
