Top-ranked Kansas defeats Oakland 78-57 with Storr contributing 16 points from the bench

LAWRENCE, Kan. — In a decisive victory, Kansas secured a win against Oakland with a score of 78-57 on Saturday, showcasing a balanced offensive effort. AJ Storr was a key contributor off the bench, scoring a season-high of 16 points, while three starters also made significant contributions with double-digit points. KJ Adams was particularly effective, netting 12 points, ten of which came in the first half, alongside Rylan Griffen’s 11 points and Hunter Dickinson’s 10 points. Dickinson also excelled in rebounding, leading the team with nine boards.

The Jayhawks (4-0) established a commanding lead in the first half, going up by as much as 22 points before halftime. Throughout the second half, the Grizzlies struggled to close the gap, never getting within 18 points of Kansas. With the game well in hand, Kansas wrapped up the final 4:32 of the match with their reserves on the court, allowing younger players valuable game experience.

On the other side, Oakland (1-3) saw Allen Mukeba lead their scoring with 19 points, while Tuburu Naivalurua added 12. However, Oakland faced significant challenges with their shooting, particularly from beyond the arc, only managing to hit 6 of 23 attempts for a dismal 27%. Their performance at the free-throw line was equally disappointing, converting just 3 of 12 attempts, with a particularly poor showing of 1 for 6 in the first half.
