CHICAGO — In a commanding performance, Josh Reaves scored 21 points from the bench, propelling the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) to a decisive 117-59 win over Saint Mary’s (MN) on Saturday.
Reaves also showcased his defensive skills with three steals, contributing significantly to the Flames’ victory, which improved their record to 3-1. Ethan Pickett was another standout, registering 17 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Meanwhile, Tyem Freeman displayed his offensive prowess by shooting 6 for 9 from the field, including 2 for 5 from beyond the arc, finishing the game with 16 points.
For Saint Mary’s (MN), Jonah Ogunsanya emerged as the top scorer with 14 points, while Jabari Sawyer added 12 to the tally. Jackson Harvey made his mark with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
UIC established control early in the game, taking the lead with 16:03 left in the first half and never looking back. Freeman was instrumental during the first half, leading the team with 14 points, allowing UIC to take a commanding 58-30 advantage at halftime. In the second half, the Flames further solidified their dominance by initiating a 12-0 run, widening their lead from 28 points to a staggering 40 points, effectively ending any hopes of a comeback from Saint Mary’s (MN).
