HIGH POINT, N.C. — D’Maurian Williams was a standout performer for High Point, contributing 23 points to help the Panthers secure a 68-65 victory over UAB on Friday night.
Williams demonstrated impressive shooting, making 7 of 13 attempts and hitting 3 of 4 from beyond the arc, along with 6 of 9 from the charity stripe. Alongside him, Kimani Hamilton also made a significant impact, scoring 18 points with 8 of 18 shooting, including 1 of 6 from three-point territory, while pulling down eight rebounds. Kezza Giffa chipped in with 11 points, though he faced challenges with his shooting, finishing 4 of 14 from the floor and 1 of 7 from long range.
For UAB, Efrem Johnson emerged as a key player, netting 21 points, while Yaxel Lendeborg contributed a solid performance with 17 points and a remarkable 15 rebounds, along with two steals.
In the first half, Williams scored eight points, helping High Point cling to a slight edge with a 26-25 lead at halftime. He later exploded with 15 points during the second half, sealing the win for his team.
Overall, High Point improved its record to 4-0, showcasing strong teamwork and individual performance on the court against a competitive UAB squad.
