POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — In an exciting clash on Friday night, Marist narrowly defeated Army with a final score of 91-88, thanks to a clutch 3-pointer from Josh Pascarelli with just 11 seconds remaining in overtime.
Pascarelli led the Red Foxes (2-1) with an impressive 25 points, also grabbing five rebounds during the contest. Jackson Price contributed 14 points, shooting 50% from the field while also adding five rebounds to his performance. Meanwhile, Jason Schofield was perfect from the floor, finishing with 13 points on six attempts.
On the other side, the Black Knights (2-2) found their offensive spark in Ryan Curry, who produced a game-high 28 points along with two steals. Jalen Rucker supported the effort with 23 points, four assists, and two steals, while AJ Allenspach chipped in 14 points and secured seven rebounds.
The game was tightly contested throughout, with Marist leading by a narrow margin of 34-33 at halftime. Pascarelli’s ten points in the first half helped keep the Red Foxes competitive. In the second half, Elijah Lewis emerged as a key player for Marist, scoring 11 points, while Jadin Collins delivered a crucial layup at the buzzer to tie the game and force an overtime situation.
In the overtime period, Pascarelli remained focused, scoring seven points to guide the Red Foxes to victory, including the pivotal shot that secured the win.
