Injured Falcons exclude 8 players from Sunday’s matchup against the Broncos

The Atlanta Falcons are set to face off against the Denver Broncos on Sunday without eight players, which includes several key defensive starters.

According to the injury report released on Friday, cornerback Mike Hughes, who is dealing with a neck injury, and nickel back Dee Alford, affected by a hamstring issue, have both been ruled out. Additionally, backup nickel Antonio Hamilton Sr. is sidelined due to a pectoral injury.

Inside linebacker Troy Andersen, suffering from a knee issue, will miss another game after recently aggravating an injury that had already kept him out for five previous games. Furthermore, rookie linebacker JD Bertrand is set to miss his third consecutive game due to a concussion.

The defensive line also takes a hit as Ta’Quon Graham will not be playing because of a pectoral injury, while James Smith-Williams has been ruled out with a tibia issue. Both of these players have been active in all 10 games this season, with Smith-Williams earning five starts.

On the offensive front, tight end Charlie Woerner, who is dealing with a concussion, is also unavailable for the upcoming game.

On a brighter note, the Falcons received some encouraging news when receiver Darnell Mooney was taken off the injury report after recovering from an Achilles tendon injury. Additionally, center Drew Dalman is expected to return to action after sitting out the last seven games due to an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, quarterback Kirk Cousins has been cleared to play after dealing with shoulder and elbow soreness. He practiced without any issues on both Thursday and Friday and will be ready for the matchup.
