VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Brady Oliveira, the running back for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, has received prestigious accolades in the Canadian Football League, being named both the George Reed Most Outstanding Player and the top Canadian player during a ceremony on Thursday night.
This recognition arrives just days before the Blue Bombers are set to compete against the Toronto Argonauts in the Grey Cup, scheduled for Sunday at B.C. Place Stadium. This marks Winnipeg’s fifth consecutive appearance in the championship, as they aim to secure their third title.
With these recent honors, Oliveira joins the ranks of notable players such as Jon Cornish, Russ Jackson, and Tony Gabriel as one of the few athletes to receive both the Most Outstanding Player and the top Canadian titles in the same season.
Hailing from Winnipeg, Oliveira showcased impressive statistics throughout the season, rushing for an impressive 1,353 yards, which earned him the CFL rushing title for the second consecutive year. Additionally, he led the league in total yards from scrimmage with a remarkable 1,829 yards, repeating this achievement for another year.
